Vastu Basics for Choosing a Plot

Orientation, shape, slope and entrance direction — the principles most families ask about when selecting a plot, explained simply.

Vastu Shastra is a traditional Indian system of design that relates the layout of a building to the cardinal directions and the natural elements. Whether or not a family follows it strictly, many buyers in Rajasthan prefer plots that are at least Vastu-compatible, because it keeps future design options open and supports resale.

The most commonly considered points are simple. Regular shapes — a square or a rectangle with right-angled corners — are preferred over irregular or triangular plots. Plots that face east or north are traditionally favoured, as are those where the ground slopes gently towards the north or east. The main entrance is ideally placed on the north, east or north-east side, and heavier structures, storage and the master bedroom are usually planned towards the south and west.

A Vastu-friendly layout at the township level means plots are demarcated with these orientations in mind, so that most plots can accommodate a compliant home design without awkward compromises. If Vastu matters to you, bring your consultant to the site before finalising a plot; our team can share the layout plan with north marked so that the orientation of each plot is clear.
